How do the cameras on top of redlights work? I ran the one in Norton today by the Hardees/Old Wal-mart turnoffs (by accident [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]) and noticed the cameras. It was kind of close, I mean it was red for about a second or so before I got under it. Could the thing have got me? If it did will they mail me a ticket? Those aren't cameras. Those are the motion detectors that make the lights change. The only cameras in the area are in Kingsport or Johnson City one. They just recently got them.

I was told at driving school that those are cameras on those redlights. I always thought the motion sensors were in the ground.
Anyway the way that those camera's work is if you run a redlight it takes a picture of your rear tag and they send you a ticket.
I think the sensors are both in the ground and on top of the signals. When they did the story on the news about the ones in the tri-cities they said they were the only ones within x-amount of hunderd miles. I think they said that they ran at about 50k. They said that very few cities had them and the ones that did were huge cities like NY, LA...

nah there not camera's, i asked my cousin thats a cop and he said they was sensors, but they want everyone to think there camera's

The cameras here in NC are mounted on thier own pole about 50 ft back from the intersection. Greensboro and High Point both had them for couple of years and made alot of money for the company , Peak Traffic , as well as themselves. Then the unthinkable occured , an old law was brought up that required 90 % of the revenue from all traffic tickets must go to the local school systems . Before , the city gave Peak 35 dollars of each 50 dollar ticket and the city kept 15 . A court ruling backed up the old law so only 5 dollars could go to Peak and the city could keep zero . Needless to say , the cameras were shut down .
Life is a grindstone . Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up , depends on what we are made of .

yall need to invest in a 25 dollar "reflector plate" If you get caught speeding be aircraft or run a red light and the cameras from either the plane or at the light take a picture, the reflector plate deflects the picture to give the picture taken a blurry image and you get no ticket in the mail. Its awesome.
